Washington DC and Virginia

Pat and I went to Washington/Virginia at the end of June to July 5th, for the World Police and Fire Games. It was an amazing week with so much to see and do but we definitely didn't see it all! It was wonderful to spend time just the 2 of us (and 20 teammates!), we had a great time! They got silver in the games and we got to experience a part of the U.S. we never thought we would!

The Vietnam War Memorial was powerful, the picture below doesn't grasp its magnitude since you can't see how many lives were lost.

This massive helicopter flew right over our heads, while we were on the double decker tour bus. We decided Obama was in it!

All the museums along the National Mall are free, they are so impressive!

We ended up being in the middle of the 4th of July Parade. It was amazing!

Athletes Village: a Brazilian competitor died during a cycling race, this was the night they had a memorial for him.

Brutal picture quality but it was hilarious silent dancing. Everyone wears headphones so you can't hear what music they are dancing too. And if you're not wearing headphones at all it just looks like a bunch of people gone crazy!
